What is the Neopanora Institute-Network of Energy Technologies?

The Neopanora Institute-Network of Energy Technologies (NINET) is a non-profit international networking organization. We are a community of individuals and organizations working to facilitate the development and global deployment of Sustainable Integrated Energy (SUSTINE) systems. This includes the incubation of a new generation of nuclear energy systems specifically designed to meet the needs of the majority of energy users. These new-generation nuclear energy systems are called NEOP systems: Nuclear Energy of the Populace.

Can you give me an example of a NEOP System?

An example of a NEOP system would be a small nuclear energy system located within a city hospital. The system not only generates electricity, but also heats water, powers the heating and air conditioning systems and provides medical isotopes. The NEOP system is part of an integrated energy system that includes active and passive solar energy and heat storage systems, which reduces the hospital's demand for energy. Any excess energy generated is used to produce hydrogen and is stored as an emergency power supply.

I don’t know anything about nuclear or other energy technologies. Does it make sense for me to become a Neopanora Member?

Anyone willing to contribute to our work is welcome. Our current and future projects require people from a variety of professions, such as those related to health care, communication, administration, finance, construction and logistics as well as various aspects of science and engineering. Any legal business interested in providing Neopanora Members with benefits is also welcome to join our network.

What are Neopoints?

Neopanora Members are rewarded with Neopoints for all work commissioned by the NINET, regardless of whether the work is voluntary, semi-voluntary, paid for directly by Neopanora or paid for by one of the NINET’s partner-institutes. Accumulated Neopoints can be converted into cash or into exchanged for shares of business incubated through the NINET.

What is the Neopanora Lattice?

The Neopanora Lattice is a web-based professional networking site managed by the NINET. All Neopanora Members can participate in the Neopanora Lattice, which enables them to connect with colleagues around the world and facilitates communication among Members. The Neopanora Lattice is also an effective means by which Members can present their qualifications and share their professional interests.

Neopanora Members are encouraged to use the Neopanora Lattice to organize projects or task teams, discussion forums, business partnerships and any other form of professional cooperation. This cooperation can either be organized or conducted within the NINET framework or outside of it. Any cooperative work conducted within and endorsed by the NINET will benefit from its support (including the Neopoints system and internships), as well as its technical and financial resources.

Will I be rewarded for recruiting new Members?

Every Member is encouraged to become a Membership Guide (MG) by recruiting others to join Neopanora. They are called his or her Fellows. Each MG is rewarded with 3% of the total Neopoints earned by all Fellows (to a maximum of eight) in their first three years as Neopanora Members. With a similar condition, each MG also collects 2% of the total Neopoints earned by the second level Fellows (those recruited by his or her Fellows) and 1% of the total Neopoints from the third level Fellows.

The role of the MG is to familiarize his or her Fellows with the Neopanora environment and to refer them to project and business opportunities within Neopanora.

What are Neopanora’s on-going projects?

Since the NINET was founded in June 2009, a number of projects and businesses have been or are being established. These include a modification of an existing High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor design for different applications, innovative techniques for improving efficiency in the generation of a medical isotope, facilitation of international cooperation in technology development and the launch of the Neopanora Sustainable Growth Program for developing countries.

What is the source of funding for Neopanora projects?

We have several sources. In general, Neopanora projects are kick-started with relevant grants and financial supports from various governments and international organizations, as well as investment from our members. As future prospects are revealed, larger investments from other sources are also secured. We are constantly maintaining good communication with many investors so they can follow progress made in our projects closely and make strategic investment decisions as they see appropriate.

What is the Neopanora Sustainable Growth Program?

The Copenhagen Climate Change Conference ended with a political accord drafted by most of the world’s largest emitters. A follow-up legally binding international treaty with quantitative emission reduction target has been called for, but may take years to achieve. Meanwhile, Neopanora will immediately start to take concrete actions, focusing on helping those that are most vulnerable, conducting activities with maximum impact, and making the most of our unique strengths. Thanks to the initiative of a number of Members from Africa, we are now launching a Neopanora Sustainable Growth Program targeted at developing countries and regions.

The program is based on the belief that for a country or society to develop in a sustainable way (economically, socially and environmentally), certain key infrastructure elements must be provided under a central planning system. They include clean water systems, food and basic agriculture systems, energy systems, education systems, health protection, communication systems, transportation systems, governance and social security and the manufacturing of essential supplies. The other elements of prosperity and well-being can develop more naturally (driven by market force and social maturity) if these key infrastructure elements are in place.

The objective of the Neopanora Sustainable Growth Program is to mobilize effort and expertise worldwide, through our network, to help countries and regions in need to have these key infrastructure elements established. The program is focusing on the development of energy systems, from the utilization of locally available renewable energy sources to eventually nuclear energy. The expansion of energy systems drives the development of the other key infrastructure elements, which in turn will provide a stronger basis for the further development of the energy systems.

The program includes a consultancy service for the planning and strategic development of the key infrastructure elements, arrangement of suitable expertise for the development and human resource development through internships in projects undertaken by Neopanora. We will do all of these by making the most of international resources, including those offered by various agencies of the United Nations.

How much I have to pay to become a Neopanora Member?

Neopanora membership is free of charge. Any one filling out an application form demonstrating a genuine interest to become a Neopanora Member will be accepted as an Associate Member (AM). An AM can enjoy many of the benefits mentioned here, including the use of the Neopanora Lattice. Those who would like to be more active, (for example, by taking up a job assignment from a Neopanora Project, initiating a new topic of discussion on Neopanora ThinkTank Forum, or forming a new group or partnership) can do so by upgrading their membership status to become Full Members.

The full membership status of a Neopanora Member requires an agreement by an existing member to become his or her Membership Guide, and a contribution to Neopanora equivalent to 50 Neopoints. This contribution can be made in various forms, including voluntary work (ranging from about 15 hours of work by those with more than 20 years of working experience, to more than 60 hours of work by those with practically no working experience), or help in recruiting new members. The voluntary work may be part of a specific Neopanora project, or generic such as championing a discussion forum, translating part of the Neopanora Website, or organizing a local Neopanora chapter. More details on the procedure for becoming a Neopanora Member can be provided upon request.
