Neopanora Institute-Network of Energy TechnologiesObjectives of the NINETThe Neopanora Institute-Network of Energy technologies (NINET) is a non-profit networking organization. NINET’s mission is to facilitate the development and global deployment of Sustainable Integrated Energy (SUSTINE) systems, based on the practical and optimum integration of locally available renewable energy sources and locally supportable nuclear energy system. As part of achiving this mission, an important objective of the Neopanora Institute-Network of Energy Technology (NINET) is to facilitate and coordinate international design, engineering and R&D efforts related to the development of NEOP systems and the improvement of existing nuclear energy system design. The goal of the NINET is to enable nuclear energy to be a key element in the future energy technologies mix, contributing to global sustainable development. The NINET’s second objective was developed in response to the need identified at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in November 2009. Neopanora is launching Service Packages for Developing Countries, of which SUSTINE systems are a key component. Improving existing nuclear energy systems and deploying newly developed systems are major undertakings involving significant financial risk. Most commercial organizations would be reluctant to conduct such activities on their own. What's more, the development of NEOP systems is beyond the scope of many commercial organizations, and is also beyond the mandates of international organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA-OECD) and the World Nuclear Association (WNA). The NINET takes an innovative approach to meeting this specific need. Unique features of the NINETThe NINET is uniquely structured to incubate international collaborative businesses and technologies working to maximize the global deployment of SUSTINE systems. This includes developing enabling technologies for the improvement, development and deployment of nuclear energy systems, including NEOP systems. Joint efforts among participating organizations in the early stages of development maximize the available resources, and participating organizations can contribute to the development of new systems without shouldering the financial burden alone. Our PartnershipsOne unique feature of the NINET is its network of partnerships with existing research, design and engineering institutes around the world. The NINET has established cooperation agreements with a number of partner-institutes -universities and technical institutes that are contracted by the NINET to work on specific projects and tasks. Our TeamThe NINET takes a unique, cooperative approach to staffing. Our team consists of networks of seasoned technical experts (including recent retirees), younger engineers and scientists, non-technical professionals and interns all over the world. Some of the experts and interns are organized into task teams and work in specially designed centers called Sustainable Energy Technologies Training and Internship Centers (SETICs). The NINET will sponsor a number of SETICs. Our teams of professionals work with the NINET on specific projects or tasks, either full-time or part-time, without a long-term employment commitment. They are free to contribute to the NINET's activities while being employed by another organization. Anyone that has contributed to the NINET's activities is a Neopanora Member for life if he or she so desires. After completing their assigned project or task, Neopanora Members are encouraged to continue supporting the NINET's interests and activities. In addition to our networks of professionals, the NINET welcomes and encourages participation by the public in its activities. This will be accomplished through discussions conducted at Neopanora Forums, with the aim of steering energy technologies in a direction that the general public supports. Our Funding and AdministrationNeopanora is a non-profit professional networking organization. The projects it facilitates are performed by Neopanora Members and funded by support from investors and donations from sponsors. Activities facilitated by the NINET include incubating energy related business and technologies from concepts identified by institute-partners, investors, customers and from Members. The NINET is not directly involved in any commercialization of the technologies it incubates, improves or develops. Instead, the incubation stage of a project comes to a close, that project is spun off from the NINET as an independent, registered business. The NINET collects royalties from these spun-off projects, which are held in the Neopanora Fund.
The Neopanora Fund is managed by the Neopanora Technology and Resource GmbH (NTR), which is the legal entity of the NINET. The funds are used in several ways: - to pay for the NINET's operating costs - to compensate Members (in combination with the Neopoints system) - to improve the social, health, and cultural well being of Neopanora Members - to support R&D of enabling technologies and products for SESs - to support the development of key infrastructure elements in developing countries, as part of the NINET's Sustainable Growth Service Packages. The Neopanora Investment Canada Inc. (NICI) has been established and several more investment companies will be established to supplement the NINET. Their main objective is to act as the internal investors and catalysts for additional investments in the commercialization of energy technologies proposed by the NINET. These include technologies incubated under the NINET and those presented by opportunities identified through the NINET's activities. Our International FocusAnother unique feature of the NINET is that it seeks to cooperate with relevant international organizations, including the IAEA, UNIDO, NEA, WNA and the Generation IV International Forum. In cooperation with its partner-institutes, the NINET is planning to establish a number of Neopanora Innovation Centers. The first two will be established in Canada and China. |
